“Corrias Corriazzu” (2020)
Crochet work stitched on white vegetable food paper, red ink, ecoline, red cotton, crochet hook no.9, wool needle.
“Corrias, Corriazzu” is an in situ work conceived and realized in the kitchen of Casa Museo Antonio Gramsci in Ghilarza, Sardinia, during a residency. The choice to use food paper is a reference to the sweets in the letter to his mother of 26 February 1927.
The title is an assonance between the mother’s family name Corrias and “corriazzu”; resistant in Sardinian language. The words are written repeatedly in minute calligraphy with red ink to create forms. They are joined together in the “ti ricordi” (do you remember), the bridge of a new syntax of between mother and child. The crochet work is soft and invisible calligraphy, like the mother’s letters that we do not read, until the last two, untouched card’s mute interruption. …
