Resti Remains 2024
collage on canvas made by medicine boxes, food packaging tearing the cardboards with the hands, acrylic and tempera black and white with chalk.
Viewed from above the horizontal remains of the perimeter, walls to an inhabited area, open catacombs or vertical skeleton of a partly fallen, gutted building. Remains, routing or plan from the heights of something to come.(Maria Pace Chiavari) Rib cage without muscles, without breath.
That which is opposed to going, gone, what is consumed or crumbled. That which is left after any action or passage of time. The dictionary says. Re-manere in Latin, “re-main,” is the staying back from that which has advanced, gone forward, or dissolved. Remains, re-sti in Italian, sti comes from the Sanskrit word sthā which means: to stand still, to stay, to remain, to exist, to be present, while as a noun it means: that which stays, that which continues. The vision seems cross-eyed because it is both vertical and horizontal at the same time: plan and elevation in a single figure.
